Piano crating
In some cases, when your piano is worth over $50,000, we have to crate the piano, and it’s very simple to do with Born To Move moving company in Chicago. Baby grand piano
Special moving is required. It has to be taken apart, and all legs and pedals have to be disassembled. Your baby grand piano has to be flipped and put on the piano board, this way you will be sure that we will move with precision. It will be wrapped with moving blankets, strapped to the piano board, put on the dolly, and moved to the truck. This process will require 4 movers.
Spinet piano
Probably the lightest piano that requires only two movers. However, it will still be difficult and there will be a $20 fee for your piano +3 hours of labor on top of it. The process of moving will be the same. The movers will bring the piano board and put your piano on it. The movers will strap it down and move it to the truck together. The only difference is that only two people are required.
Upright piano
These could be very heavy, up to 700 lbs, depending on the year in which it was built. Our moving company in Chicago can move all types of pianos, including upright ones. We will bring professional movers, piano straps, and blankets. Everything will be professionally wrapped around with blankets, shrink wrap, and tape for piano protection.

Piano Insurance

Electric keyboard
- These don’t require any type of special care. We can just wrap it with the moving blankets and transport it as it is with one person.
- For all piano moves in Chicago, for safety reasons, we are required to send 4 professional movers and a truck with a liftgate to move your piano without using the ramp of the truck.
- Born To Move charges a piano fee which will be as follows:
- On top of the piano fee, we charge an hourly rate for 4 movers.
- The labor charge will be $260 per hour for three hours minimum.
